Turmeric is probably worlds most popular home-remedy for many skin problems. It is available world-wide and present in every household. This is the spice that gives curry its yellow color. The reason behind it’s incredible popularity is the multipurpose properties it poses.

This is the one ingredient that I always suggest to all my users for all skin type but way is not the same. For different skin type you have to include this ingredient differently.

For Skin:

Wrinkles:

Turmeric is used for its beauty uses since ancient times, you can use this ingredient in many ways. Today we will tell you how can you use turmeric to avoid wrinkles that are first sign of aging.

1. Add raw milk and tomato juice to rice powder and turmeric powder. Apply the paste and let it stay until it dries. Lactic acid present in milk will help peel off the dead skin cells.

2. You can add turmeric powder in buttermilk and sugarcane juice. This will work the best for dark circles and wrinkles.

3. Turmeric-honey paste can be applied on the face and neck to help exfoliate skin and keep a check on pores.

Scars, dark spots and a trail of hyper-pigmentation stains:

Ingredients found in every household, and your blemish and pigmentation removal face pack is ready.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice (if you have an oily skin) or milk (if you have a dry or sensitive skin)

Blend the ingredients together into a thick yellow paste. Now apply it on your face and neck, make a thick coat over the affected areas. Allow it to seep into the skin for the next 20 minutes. Once it is fully dry, rinse off with cool water. You can use this pack daily for a couple of weeks, and you will see the difference in the tone of your skin.

The dark spots would have vanished, even the pigmentation stains gone. Your face will feel fresh and glowing, and your complexion several tones brighter.

For acne:

Take 4 tablespoons turmeric powder and to this add 1 tablespoon milk and 4 tablespoons raw honey. Stir this mix in a clean bowel until it becomes a smooth paste.

Keep this mix in the refrigerator to cool.

An alternate set of ingredients are – 8 tablespoons turmeric powder mixed with 5 tablespoons olive oil or sesame oil. Mix these in a clean bowl until a smooth and creamy paste is formed.

The rest of the treatment steps are the same for both types of turmeric acne pastes.

Take a long hot shower to soften your skin using mild shower gel or bath soap. Avoid all medicated, glycerin and antibacterial products that can dry out the skin.

While in the shower, take a washcloth and dip it in very hot water (as much as your hands can stand). Apply the hot wash cloth directly on affected areas for at least 5 minutes.

This will help to bring pus in inflamed acne lesions to the surface. Now pat your skin dry.

Use your fingers and apply the turmeric paste to the dry, soft skin, using gentle massaging motion. Massage for at least 10 minutes. Leave this to dry overnight.

The turmeric will dry and become stiff like a mask. This action will reduce the acne size. Rinse the dried paste in the morning. Turmeric will stain clothes.

So use old clothes and bed sheets when following this treatment. Turmeric will also leave a yellowish tinge on the skin. To clear this, wipe these areas with a cotton ball dipped in a few drops of a mild facial toner.

Top 5 health benefits of Turmeric and home remedies

Teeth whitener:

I know you will not believe, but yes it is true !! Turmeric is a natural teeth whitener.  Do not ask me about mechanism behind this because it is still a mystery but it works that i know

You may notice change from first application only.

The only ingredient that you need is turmeric powder.

Wet your toothbrush and then dip it in 1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder. Brush teeth as normal, but instead of rinsing when you’re done allow the turmeric to sit on your teeth for 3-5 minutes so that it can do it’s magic.

Spit and rinse thoroughly, then follow with a second brushing using your regular tooth powder/toothpaste. If you notice any yellow around the corners of your mouth, wash with soap and it will rinse away.

Likewise, if any turmeric powder is left on your teeth or gums it will cause a slight yellow tint, but when the turmeric is fully rinsed away you should notice a brighter, whiter smile. I personally think this homemade tooth soap is the most effective at removing the turmeric so you can see the results underneath.

You may notice a difference with the first application. If not, give it a few days to a week – if you’re skeptical I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
